Don't throw your pencil case

Looking after tools, consumables and materials is an important lesson I teach in my classes. Dropping a pencil can break the core. When this happens sharpening the pencil is  frustrating as the core keeps coming out and it won't sharpen.
Don't throw out a broken pencil. You can crush the core and use it in powder form for interesting smudge effects. There are a number of YouTube videos on repairing broken pencils, though I've never tried it before.
The following video gives us a peek into the Faber Castell pencil factory.  I found it interesting. Watch it and let me know what you think in the comments.
